Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve done any type of blogging. It was good to get back out there, take some photos, and now write about it. This time I’m back at Bihoku Highland Circuit in Okayama Prefecture, about a 1-hour 45-minute drive from where I live. It was going to be a good day.
A week or two before this Saturday, I got a text from a mate in Osaka saying him and a few other people were going to go to Bihoku! Imagine my excitement when I hear this. I had actually been drifting only 2 weeks before, so didn’t really need to quench my thirst just yet, but who could pass up the opportunity to drift with some other non-Japanese people?! Not me, that’s for sure.
As usual, I got up at 4.45am, left at 5.15am, stopped at the Lawson just outside the race track (which has recently been rebuilt and it is mighty fine), then arrive at Bihoku on the dot at 7.30am. With limited covered pits, I wanted to make sure I got one in case it rained. The track would open from 8.00am until 4.00pm, and I had purchased a ticket to drift on both B and A course.
As you can see, it wasn’t just a few people that arrived, a whole bunch did. Most of whom I have been following on Instagram for a while now! The 180 with the purple hood belongs to @stacked_inc, the green S14 to @splash0327, the black/white S13 & the green AE86 to @slpery86, the matt black s13 to @__jamiejdl, the black S14 kouki to @threeoneslide, the white S13 to @jessestreeter94, the purple front S13 to @shirtstuckedin, and the brown S14 down the back belongs to @macey14. What a lineup! 9 cars, plus mine makes 10. Ohh what a good day ahead.
I hope you recognise this car or the style at least. Royta has 2 S14s, which are pretty similar according to my memory. A usual at Meihan, he has been drifting for years and has a reputation for being a bad-ass on the track. He even let his friend Jaden drive it for a bit during the day! What a G.C.
A close up of a few of the other cars that were there. They all look so darn cool. Also, all of them, have waaaay more power than me so I could barely keep up, if at all haha.
There were also a few cars from D1-lights practising for the competition which is on this weekend coming, and I’ll be going to watch! I’ve actually seen this car here before once or twice, and one of his friends who actually took me out for a few laps in his 800hp car – that was craazy!
Last time I met Rob was probably a year ago, most of the people present, the last time I saw them was about a year ago either last May or August. Rob had a different AE86 then, a panda spec one. However, that’s gone, and he is rocking this sick green AE86, plus he also brought along his S13 drift car. Talk about a set-up!
Shane was out there practising his runs and getting his car setup right for next weekend also. He will be competing at D1-lights too! Hopefully, he can come away with a good few wins. He definitely made the most smoke out of all of us!
Jesse had a kouki just like me, which was also around stock power levels! I had some fun drifting with him on A-course for a while. It’s a bit of an adrenaline rush having someone on your door! Especially when your car has zero dents or marks. I want to go to another track day sometime and do more tandems with him.
I didn’t meet this driver, but I think he was also from Osaka. In a little turbo kei car. It was actually surprisingly fast. Being used as a camera chase car and also doing some grip runs on A-course.
What a great day. Usually, I go by myself, don’t really know anyone, maybe make a new friend or two, and it’s good. But to finally meet people from online, and drift with them was good on another level! Enjoy the rest of the photos below.
