Maybe you’ve seen this car before, maybe you haven’t. It’s owned by someone who I can now call a good friend. Yamamoto-san, owner and photographer at Yama-Channel photography. He is who I can thank for such a successful turnout of this meet. It was all organised by Yamamoto-san, and about 20 of the most insane Silvias I had seen in the flesh, ever, were present.
As I waited outside the service station on a busy street in West Osaka for Yamamoto-san to turn up, I had a small chill run through my spine. Was this going to be the best day of automotive hunting yet? As I ponder that thought in my head, this Bayside Blue S15 comes around the corner, stopping right at my feet. Yamamoto-san was kind enough to pick me up and drive me around for the day. After visiting Mine-san, we headed to Kobe, for the meet of a lifetime.
Doesn’t it look outstanding? It’s simple, yet effective. There is form, and there is function. The heart of the car is still the trusty SR20DET will just a few modifications. Of course, the usual front mount intercooler setup has replaced the factory side mount equivalent.
Helping the rear out, is a massive wing, along with a classy diffusor. The bottom half of the bumper has been painted black to give the same look as a half cut bumper, not bad.
Yamamoto-san has most certainly hammered the nail on the head with this S15. It just looks so darn nice. The over fenders on the front and rear also give the car some better angles, with only a little amount of camber in the rear wheels.
I think, with all honestly, that it was my favourite Silvia on the day. It wasn’t too low, or too high for the matter, plus the wheels had plenty of rubber touching the ground. To put it bluntly, nothing was over excessive. I think the best way to label it is: ‘clean and simple’.
Would you drive it? Is it your sort of Silvia? I’d hope so! We only have one more spotlight feature from this event. Which all happened 12 months ago, can you believe it? 12 months of content from that event will be finally finished up. See you next week.
